The Derakhti Project: An Excavation Underway The Derakhti Project is currently one of PP Ziggurat’s active job sites. Work is progressing step by step under close supervision from the technical team, and from the very beginning, one commitment has stood alongside structural safety: protecting every tree around the site. The project’s name comes directly from that priority. The Challenge The site is surrounded on four sides by different conditions — multi-story residential buildings, a public street, and a green space. Each side of the excavation has its own requirements and needed its own approach. Protecting the existing trees isn’t a nice-to-have here — it’s a firm requirement. Wherever the shoring layout needs a small adjustment to avoid a root system or trunk, that change goes through the engineering team first. Progress So Far Excavation and drilling for the shoring wells are underway in stages, with the crew working side by side and adjusting each section based on the neighboring structures and nearby trees. In parallel, the final shoring system is taking shape, and includes: • Soil nailing and anchoring to hold the excavation walls in place • A steel bracing frame for extra reinforcement • A mesh and sprayed-concrete surface layer for stability Current Status and What’s Next The project is currently in its execution phase, with the technical team tracking and logging daily progress. So far, work has continued without harming any of the surrounding trees — which remains the key measure of success here, alongside structural safety.
